DETAILS

In 2022 Ian Gunther broke the high bar, crafted from 17-4 PH hardened steel. What do you do with a broken high bar? Repurpose them into bands of course!

These 7mm wide bands were crafted using a CNC lathe from a decommissioned bar reclaimed from Accel Gymnastics in San Mateo, CA.

"Wearing a band is a symbolic triumph over the physical and mental challenges the high bar presented - it's a statement that I, and all gymnasts, prevail over 17-4 PH steel" - Ian Gunther

Created by Stanford's USA national team member, Ian Gunther. Distributed by TURN.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR BAND SIZE AT HOME

Things You'll Need

  • Ruler
  • Thin strip of paper

Instructions

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper.
  2. Wrap the paper around your finger. Make sure the paper is below the joint of your finger and close to your knuckle.
  3. Mark the spot where the paper meets and measure the distance with your ruler.
  4. Use the following chart to determine your ring size. Rings also come in half sizes. These measurements will fall somewhere in between the whole sizes.

Ring Sizes

Size 6: 2 1/16 inches

Size 7: 2 1/8 inches

Size 8: 2 1/4 inches

Size 9: 2 5/16 inches

Size 10: 2 7/16 inches

Size 11: 2 9/16 inches

Size 12: 2 5/8 inches

Size 13: 2 11/16 inches

Helpful tips:

  • Measure your finger at the end of the day when they tend to be a bit more swollen.
  • If your knuckle is much bigger than the base of your finger, measure both areas and find a size in between.

We will send you your ordered band size, but we cannot be responsible for figuring out your size. Like their jeans, some people like their bands snug and some like them loose.
